Operation HOPE's 5th Annual F.A.M.I.N.E. Banquet was held on July 9th at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center with more than 550 guests in attendance. After months of preparation by such an incredible group of volunteers, we are happy to say that this was certainly our biggest and most successful event to date. Thanks to the generous donations from businesses and individuals from across the Lubbock area, we were able to auction off a incredible collection of art, services, and products all to help the work we are currently doing in Haiti and Iraq.
Our 2021 15th Annual Banquet CanceledDear friends and supporters of Operation HOPE: Due to the cancellation of spring events at the Civic Center, we are forced to cancel this year's Operation HOPE Banquet. Thank you for your generous support over the years. Please pray about how the LORD would have you contribute to our outreach this year as we continue our commitments to Hope2Haiti and SnackPack4Kids in West Texas.
After spending eight days in Iraq and another four in transit, it was easy to see that Dr. Thomas was both exhausted and energized from his time with the Kurdish people. Despite the mountain of paperwork that awaited him on his desk, Dr. Thomas was happy to sit down and speak with me about his latest trip to Iraq and the things that were accomplished.
Although Dr. Thomas has been incredibly busy over the past few days in the nation of Iraq, he was able to send me a short email which I would love to share with everyone:
"Our trip so far has been very sucessful. We have performed about 20 surgeries and lot of patients are being seen. We are supposed to met President Barzani on Saturday. All is well!"
Considering the busy time that Dr. Thomas, the KAMC team, and the rest of the doctors have had in Iraq, I was thrilled to have gotten an update.
Operation HOPE recently received a request from our dear friends New Vision Ministries in Haiti to help find two teachers who would be willing to teach at a YWAM English school in Saint Marc for the 2011-2012 school year.
YWAM has been in Saint Marc for 15 years and has been such an asset to that community and the entire nation. The school is primarily focused on educating missionary children (such as the Reeves' children) as well as providing a Bible-Based English education for Haitian children to equip them to reach out to their own people.
The following article was posted on the blog of Dr. Kerry Reeves & New Vision Ministries in Haiti. New Vision is a close partner of Operation HOPE and they are the ministry that we assist when traveling to Haiti.
