Operation HOPE holds an annual F.A.M.I.N.E. banquet and silent auction to raise money to send food and supplies to poverty stricken countries. This year’s banquet raised money for the orphaned children living in extreme poverty in Haiti.
Although Dr. Thomas has been incredibly busy over the past few days in the nation of Iraq, he was able to send me a short email which I would love to share with everyone:
"Our trip so far has been very sucessful. We have performed about 20 surgeries and lot of patients are being seen. We are supposed to met President Barzani on Saturday. All is well!"
Considering the busy time that Dr. Thomas, the KAMC team, and the rest of the doctors have had in Iraq, I was thrilled to have gotten an update.
Operation HOPE recently received a request from our dear friends New Vision Ministries in Haiti to help find two teachers who would be willing to teach at a YWAM English school in Saint Marc for the 2011-2012 school year.
YWAM has been in Saint Marc for 15 years and has been such an asset to that community and the entire nation. The school is primarily focused on educating missionary children (such as the Reeves' children) as well as providing a Bible-Based English education for Haitian children to equip them to reach out to their own people.

A few days ago, Barb Bouma, a friend of ours who has done alot to help the efforts of Operation HOPE sent an email to all of her friends letting them know just what they can do to help those in need in Haiti. Barb stays in touch with the Reeves family of New Vision Ministries and was able to get a very comprehensive list of the things they need to continue to operate as they have.
