Although I haven't had a great deal of contact with Jarred Minefee since he headed to Haiti 12 days ago, he was able to post a handful of fantastic images online that I would love to share with you. My original intention was to wait until I was able to get more of a story about each of these images, but I realize that many of these are too powerful to be left alone until then. Within the first couple of days, Jarred had the opportunity to be involved in a crusade in Montrouis as well as a beautiful baptism service the next morning.
Operation HOPE recently received a request from our dear friends New Vision Ministries in Haiti to help find two teachers who would be willing to teach at a YWAM English school in Saint Marc for the 2011-2012 school year.
YWAM has been in Saint Marc for 15 years and has been such an asset to that community and the entire nation. The school is primarily focused on educating missionary children (such as the Reeves' children) as well as providing a Bible-Based English education for Haitian children to equip them to reach out to their own people.
The following article was posted on the blog of Dr. Kerry Reeves & New Vision Ministries in Haiti. New Vision is a close partner of Operation HOPE and they are the ministry that we assist when traveling to Haiti.
A few days ago, Barb Bouma, a friend of ours who has done alot to help the efforts of Operation HOPE sent an email to all of her friends letting them know just what they can do to help those in need in Haiti. Barb stays in touch with the Reeves family of New Vision Ministries and was able to get a very comprehensive list of the things they need to continue to operate as they have. Below is a copy of her email, and I pray that each person who reads this will be able to help out in some way.
Although Dr. Thomas has been incredibly busy over the past few days in the nation of Iraq, he was able to send me a short email which I would love to share with everyone:
"Our trip so far has been very sucessful. We have performed about 20 surgeries and lot of patients are being seen. We are supposed to met President Barzani on Saturday. All is well!"
Considering the busy time that Dr. Thomas, the KAMC team, and the rest of the doctors have had in Iraq, I was thrilled to have gotten an update.
